Too often the people most affected by decisions are the same ones we’re least effective at informing about and engaging around the issues. To push a broader vision of what educational equity means, we need young people, families, teachers and youth workers better prepared not only to participate, but to lead. Advocates who are making change happen in their schools and communities will join us to talk about what it takes to organize and lead efforts to improve schools, promote social and emotional learning, expand learning opportunities, or advance equity agendas and what it might look like if we linked these often disparate efforts together.

Together, we’ll tackle questions like:

  • What does it take to mobilize young people and families? Teachers and youth workers? What do wins look like?
  • What does it take to advocate for improving quality, funding and accountability so young people have more equitable learning opportunities, in school and out? Do these pushes work together? Are parents and youth on board? Have we done enough to support and mobilize them?
  • Where are the front-line staff (teachers, youth workers, etc.) on this topic? How are they engaging youth and families to advocate for change?
