Research shows that students benefit from being taught by teachers with similar life experiences, and yet people of color are often underrepresented, particularly in teaching careers. This workshop will review ExpandED's innovative Pathways model designed specifically to train afterschool educators. Participants will hear stories and testimonials from some of ExpandED's partners and participants and learn how ExpandED Schools’ Pathways programs promote equity, improve program quality and increase opportunities for school-community partnerships and collaboration. The workshop will also include an opportunity to brainstorm and reflect on how to create intentional career pathways for the people serving communities, schools and programs.
